Yu Yunfeng Visits Sino-Foreign Language Exchange Center School

On the morning of July 10, Yu Yunfeng, Party Secretary and Director of the Sino-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education, visited the school for a research discussion focused on the integration of digital intelligence and artificial intelligence within the framework of international Chinese language education and the dissemination of Chinese culture abroad. This meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor Zhou Jianghong.

During the symposium, Zhou Jianghong extended a warm welcome to Yu Yunfeng and his team, expressing gratitude for the ongoing guidance and support provided by the Sino-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center. He offered a brief overview of the school’s operations concerning international Chinese language education and the overseas promotion of Chinese culture. Reports were also delivered by Chen Wenzhi, the director of the Information Technology Center, and Wang Yufen, executive vice dean of the School of International Education, focusing on how artificial intelligence enhances educational practices and studies in China.

Yu Yunfeng commended the school for its remarkable successes in promoting international study programs in China and integrating artificial intelligence into educational practices. He emphasized that the current landscape of international Chinese language education is rife with unprecedented opportunities, fueled by a growing global demand for such education. He highlighted the necessity of leveraging AI technologies to advance international online Chinese teaching, noting that Zhejiang University has established a strong presence in digital education, which serves as a robust foundation for this initiative.

The discussions covered a variety of critical topics, including the establishment of international Chinese language education disciplines, talent development in areas combining Chinese with specific professions, and the digital transformation of educational practices. Both parties expressed a commitment to bolster collaboration and jointly develop innovative models for language exchange and cooperation between China and other nations.

Accompanying Yu Yunfeng on this visit were Liu Jianqing, Deputy Director of the Sino-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center, Ding Liguo, Director of the Exchange Department, and Lan Jingjing, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department from the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education. Relevant officials from the school's International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Information Technology Center, and School of International Education also engaged in the discussions.

Prior to the symposium, Yu Yunfeng and his group toured the Zhejiang University History Museum and the Robotics and Intelligent Equipment Student Innovation Practice Base, giving them insight into the university's innovative efforts and historical contributions.
