Ports See 2071 Million Daily Travelers During Ching Ming Festival

During the recent Ching Ming Festival holiday, border inspection agencies across the nation observed significant travel activity, facilitating a total of 6.212 million Chinese and foreign individuals entering and exiting the country. This figure averages about 2.071 million visitors each day, representing a noteworthy increase of 19.7% in comparison to the same period last year.

Among the travelers, there were 2.76 million visitors from mainland China, which reflects a 14.0% rise compared to the previous year. Additionally, there were 2.755 million visitors from the regions of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, marking an impressive increase of 21.5%. Furthermore, 697,000 foreigners also traveled to and from the country during this time, which translates to a substantial increase of 39.5%.

In total, the border inspection agencies inspected approximately 271,000 means of transport, including ships, trains, and vehicles. This inspection activity saw a notable rise of 15.7% over the same period last year, indicating a robust increase in travel volume.

To accommodate the surge in passenger flow, the State Administration of Immigration coordinated efforts among all border inspection agencies nationwide. They utilized advanced planning techniques to predict and publicize the passenger flow trends at various ports, which encouraged travelers to effectively manage their itineraries.

These agencies not only organized their operations with precision, but they also established special inspection channels specifically for residents from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, as well as overseas Chinese. These measures were particularly beneficial for those returning to their hometowns to pay respects to their ancestors.

Moreover, the agencies were mindful of the significant number of elderly travelers during the Ching Ming Festival period and made special provisions to assist travelers needing extra care.

In collaboration with relevant departments, the border inspection agencies efficiently guided the peak flow of passengers, ensuring smooth and timely customs clearance at the ports.
