On September 17, a regional immigration governance policy seminar titled "Shared Security and Development, Integrated Growth, and Sustained Promotion of Regional Immigration Governance" took place in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province. This significant event saw participation from immigration representatives across various nations, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, South Korea, and China, alongside officials from the International Organization for Migration and the Lancang-Mekong Law Enforcement Cooperation Center.

The seminar fostered a pragmatic and friendly atmosphere where parties engaged in constructive discussions characterized by mutual respect and trust. They shared insights on the current landscape of immigration governance in their respective regions, discussed concerns, and introduced recent policies and measures relating to immigration management. This collaborative exchange led to policy proposals and recommendations aimed at enhancing regional immigration governance and envisioned future directions for joint efforts.

The National Immigration Administration of China underscored that effective immigration management is critical for both regional security and development. The administration called for increased trust, unity, collaboration, and an inclusive approach among regional countries. China emphasizes the importance of the principles of cooperation, innovation, rule of law, and mutual benefit in deepening immigration law enforcement collaboration and uplifting regional governance.

Looking ahead, China advocates for a collective approach to security within the region, proposing the establishment of a joint law enforcement mechanism. The aim is to facilitate timely sharing of analyses related to regional immigration governance, implement joint border patrols, combat cross-border crimes, and carry out special measures to ensure border security and order. Such efforts would help maintain safe, orderly, and normal movement of individuals across borders, thereby safeguarding regional peace and stability.

Moreover, prioritizing development services is essential. This includes actively promoting coordination and facilitation of visa policies, as well as developing attractive solutions for talent mobility, residency, and integration services. Aligning immigration policies with overall regional economic integration is seen as vital for fostering prosperity and growth.

The conference also addressed the need for an Asian security model, which emphasizes shared concerns, common ground, and dialogue. This model should be built on mutual respect and consensus, with a focus on fostering a supportive and harmonious regional immigration governance system. The aim is to modernize the framework for immigration governance and enhance capacities across the region.

The National Immigration Administration of China reaffirmed its commitment to a mutually beneficial, open strategy. It plans to implement a series of immigration management policies that support high-quality development. By enhancing institutional openness, the goal is to provide increased conveniences for individuals engaged in trade, investment, and business to ensure legal, safe, and effective cross-border movement.

Adhering to a vision of a shared future for mankind, China seeks to align with global governance frameworks. It maintains a strong commitment to international law, promotes multilateralism, and prioritizes people-centered approaches aimed at producing tangible outcomes. By deepening policy communication with international organizations and various countries, China is focused on enriching and improving immigration governance practices.
