Strengthening Accreditation Exams for Foreign College Degrees

Strengthening Accreditation Exams for Foreign College Degrees

In a bid to safeguard the legitimate rights of students who study abroad and to ensure a stable study abroad market, the Ministry of Education's Study Abroad Service Center has initiated enhanced review procedures regarding the accreditation of academic degrees obtained from foreign institutions.

This decision comes in light of significant abnormalities detected in the certification data of certain institutions. Frequent irregularities have been observed, prompting the center to take decisive action. Specifically, these measures align with Article 28 of the Measures for Accreditation of Academic Degrees Outside the Country.

Among the institutions identified for enhanced scrutiny are the Paris East Higher Education Group, known as Groupe HEMA, and the European Business School located in Paris. These institutions will undergo a more rigorous examination of their accreditation applications.

During this intensified review phase, the processing time for certification applications from these institutions has been extended. Applicants should anticipate a wait of at least 60 working days from the date their application is submitted.

It is advisable for individuals holding diplomas from the aforementioned institutions to maintain communication with their respective schools to stay informed about the accreditation process and any developments.

Furthermore, students currently studying abroad should remain vigilant in regard to updates from the Ministry of Education. They are encouraged to carefully consider their choices in selecting institutions that are announced and scrutinized under these new review measures.

This announcement serves as an important reminder to students and prospective applicants of the need for diligence when it comes to choosing educational programs overseas.

The Ministry of Education's Study Abroad Service Center will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide support to students seeking clarification regarding their certifications.

For any inquiries or further assistance, concerned parties can reach out directly to the ministry through the provided hotline or visit their office located at the specified address in Beijing.
