During this year’s Ching Ming Festival, border inspection agencies across the nation facilitated an impressive 6.212 million movements of Chinese and foreign personnel, translating to an average of 2.071 million travelers daily. This figure represents a significant increase of 19.7% from the same period last year, indicating a growing trend in travel during the festival.
Among the total visitors, 2.76 million were individuals from mainland China, marking a 14% rise compared to the previous year's figures. Additionally, 2.755 million visitors traveled from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, which is an increase of 21.5%, and 697,000 foreign nationals entered and exited the country, reflecting a notable 39.5% surge in movement.
In conjunction with this increase in travelers, a total of 271,000 means of inbound and outbound transport, including ships, trains, and vehicles, were inspected, an uptick of 15.7% over the last year’s holiday period. This comprehensive engagement underscores the robust operational capacity of border agencies.
Under the coordinated strategy of the State Administration of Immigration, all border inspection entities mobilized their resources effectively to provide timely updates on passenger flow at various ports. This proactive approach was crucial in helping travelers plan their journeys efficiently and reduce congestion.
The agencies organized their duties systematically, establishing specialized inspection lanes for residents from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, as well as overseas Chinese and those returning to honor their ancestors during this culturally significant period. These provisions were particularly beneficial for the large number of elderly individuals traveling.
Cooperation with various departments ensured that peak passenger flows were managed adeptly, allowing for an efficient and orderly customs experience. Throughout the Ching Ming Festival holiday, entry and exit procedures at ports maintained a safe and convenient environment for the vast number of travelers.
