During the recent "May 1st" holiday, border inspection agencies processed a remarkable total of 10.896 million individuals entering and exiting the country. This figure marks an impressive 28.7% increase compared to the previous year, with the highest volume observed on May 3, reaching 2.297 million through customs.
The statistics indicate that among the 10.896 million movements, 5.778 million were mainland residents traveling abroad or returning home, signifying a growth of 21.2% year-on-year. Additionally, 4.03 million travelers came from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, representing a notable 37.1% rise. Foreign visitors accounted for 1.115 million movements, an increase of 43.1% over the same holiday period last year.
A particularly noteworthy segment of the foreign travelers includes approximately 380,000 who entered without a visa, a statistic that reflects a significant 72.7% surge compared to the previous year. Furthermore, a total of 456,000 different modes of transport, including ships, trains, and vehicles, were inspected during this period, indicating an 18.1% increase from the same point last year.
In preparation for the holiday, the State Administration of Immigration adopted a unified strategy to enhance the efficiency of border controls. This strategy included the rigorous implementation of the "two announcements and one reminder" policy, which aimed to predict and communicate passenger flow patterns effectively.
Border inspection authorities utilized scientific methods to forecast passenger movements and provided timely updates to better manage the flow at ports. These proactive measures allowed the majority of travelers to plan their itineraries more effectively, minimizing congestion.
To ensure a seamless travel experience, inspection officials organized their operations meticulously, opening additional customs clearance channels and implementing specific measures for Chinese citizens returning or traveling abroad. Collaboration between various departments further facilitated smooth passenger flow and transportation adequacy during high-traffic times.
The overall management of entry and exit procedures across the country during the "May 1st" holiday was characterized by safety, efficiency, and orderliness, assuring travelers that their journeys were being handled with the utmost care and effectiveness.
