In a significant development for international education, the Ministry of Education Study Abroad Service Center announced on May 30, 2025, the invalidation of certain foreign academic degree certificates. This decision comes as a result of a thorough review process based on reports and new evidence concerning the certification standards of overseas academic degrees.
In accordance with Article 41 of the 'Measures for Accreditation of Academic Degrees Outside the Country (Overseas)', the center undertook a systematic evaluation of foreign degree certification applications. The findings revealed that some certificates did not meet the established standards for validation.
Specifically, the certificates that have been invalidated include Jiao Yu Fu Zhen Ying [2013] No. 16623 and Education Service Accreditation [2015] No. 00270. The invalidation of these degrees has raised concerns among students and institutions regarding the recognition of foreign qualifications.
The implications of this announcement are far-reaching, affecting students who may have pursued degrees from the invalidated categories. It raises important questions about the credibility and reliability of foreign educational institutions and the degrees they confer.
With these changes, students are advised to thoroughly research and ensure their chosen academic programs meet the certification standards required by authorities. The study abroad community is encouraged to stay informed on further developments regarding degree validations.
