This significant event showcased a variety of innovative projects presented by student participants, highlighting their creativity and efforts in promoting the university's admissions program.
The 2025 Zhejiang University International Student Admissions Promotion Ambassador Campaign featured two participation methods: independent registration and recommendations from various colleges and departments. This appealing structure encouraged widespread involvement from international students and alumni. Following the submission of their projects, ten outstanding teams and individuals advanced to the on-site defense and presentation stage after evaluation by the School of International Education.
Prominent figures were present at the event, including Liu Dantong, Vice Dean of the School of International Education, along with representatives from various schools within the university, such as Xia Ying from the School of Economics and Wong Wee Liat from the Zhejiang University Illinois University Urbana-Champaign Joint College. The team of judges assessed each performance based on publicity effectiveness, innovation in promotional methods, and the quality of the on-site defense. Additionally, over 20 student attendees participated in the public rating process.
During his address, Vice Dean Liu Dantong reflected on the university's accomplishments in international student enrollment and the vital role that admissions promoters play in enhancing the brand recognition of 'Study in Zhejiang University.' His insights underscored the integral function of these ambassadors as communicators and facilitators in the admissions process.
The defense presentations were dynamic and engaging, allowing the admissions ambassadors to display their talents and the impressive outcomes of their efforts. For instance, the Malaysian team led by Sabrina Lee Jia Yee conducted extensive seminars and successfully created online communities on Xiaohongshu, guiding potential applicants through their inquiries. Meanwhile, Nepalese student Bikash Gyawali garnered enormous public interest by posting videos of campus life on platforms like YouTube and Instagram, accumulating nearly 800,000 views.
Following the presentations, Woo Yet Ha, the honorary president of the Zhejiang University Alumni Association in Malaysia, shared valuable insights from years of experience in admissions promotion. He provided tailored recommendations based on the preferences of prospective students originating from his local context. His input aimed to enhance the university's outreach strategies.
Wang Kexin, a member of the International Student Admissions Promotion Lecturer Group, also attended as a special guest. She delivered professional critiques of each team's presentation and shared effective marketing strategies observed at overseas education fairs, thereby urging the participating teams to refine their promotional endeavors.
After a meticulous evaluation process, the event concluded with the announcement of the competition's winners, which included two first-prize recipients, four second-prize, and four third-prize winners. The judging panel and faculty members conferred honorary certificates to the winning teams and individuals, recognizing their exceptional contributions.
The exhibition not only highlighted innovative approaches to promoting international student enrollment but also drew upon the collective wisdom of current students and alumni. This collaborative effort injects fresh energy into the 'Study in Zhejiang University' initiative. Looking ahead, the university plans to broaden its international admissions outreach efforts, welcoming more talented students to enrich the academic community.
