From May 18 to 20, 2025, Zhejiang University played host to the 2nd Yangtze River Delta Regional High-Level International Student Academic Exchange Event. This engaging event drew over 100 distinguished international students and their mentors from 19 universities within the Yangtze River Delta, such as Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Nanjing University, and the University of Science and Technology of China.
The opening ceremony featured prominent figures, including Zhou Jianghong, vice-chancellor of Zhejiang University; Wang Jing, deputy director of the Study Abroad Administration Department of the National Study Abroad Fund Management Committee; and Du Jian, a first-level researcher at the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education.
In his address, Zhou Jianghong emphasized that the Yangtze River Delta universities have successfully attracted an impressive pool of high-level international students, thanks to their robust educational resources and exceptional research capabilities. He articulated the event's purpose: to allow these outstanding students to present their academic achievements while fostering exchanges, enhancing their innovative capacities, and contributing to the evolution of study abroad education in China.
Wang Jing highlighted the value of this gathering, where students from diverse nationalities and academic disciplines converge to gain insights from informative presentations, engage in thought-provoking exchanges, and experience the dynamism of China's development. She expressed her hopes that the seeds of academic collaboration planted during the event would yield fruitful relationships globally, positioning the participants as ambassadors of Chinese culture.
The event, organized by the National Study Abroad Fund Management Committee in collaboration with Zhejiang University, received positive feedback from attending universities. The three days were packed with a variety of activities, including engaging academic presentations, special salons, poster exhibitions, and a visit to local scenic sites.
Students from 36 different countries, including the United States, Germany, Canada, Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Malaysia, and Zimbabwe, participated in the event. Their diverse backgrounds enriched the discussions and highlighted the global significance of the exchange.
Additionally, attendees included the head of the School of International Education from Zhejiang University and representatives from partner institutions, further emphasizing the collaborative spirit underpinning the event.
