During this year's Dragon Boat Festival holiday, border inspection agencies across the nation facilitated a remarkable total of 5.907 million visits for both Chinese and foreign travelers. This figure translates to an average of approximately 1.969 million visits each day, marking a 2.7% increase compared to the same period last year. Notably, the busiest day for entry and exit customs clearance occurred on June 1, when the total reached 2,086,000.
Among the international travelers, the government implemented a visa-free policy for 231,000 visitors, reflecting a significant rise of 59.4% compared to the same holiday last year. In addition, the inspection of transport means, including ships, trains, and vehicles, tallied up to 263,000, which is an increase of 10.5% from the previous year.
In a concerted effort to streamline the travel experience during this peak holiday period, the State Administration of Immigration provided unified guidelines for border inspection authorities nationwide. These measures included the commitment to upholding the principle of 'two announcements and one reminder' to ensure travelers are well-informed.
Authorities also focused on predicting and promptly publishing inbound and outbound passenger flow data, encouraging travelers to plan their itineraries accordingly to avoid congestion. This proactive approach aimed to enhance the overall travel experience during the crowded festival.
Furthermore, border inspection agencies organized their operations meticulously, opening multiple inspection channels to accommodate the high volume of travelers. They adhered to strict customs clearance protocols for Chinese citizens, ensuring that the processing time did not exceed 30 minutes.
Collaboration among various departments was intensified to ensure smooth passenger flow guidance and adequate traffic support throughout peak travel periods. The overall outcome was a travel experience characterized by safety, efficiency, and order at the ports across the country.
