China Adds Indonesia to 240-Hour Visa-Free Transit Policy

Effective June 12, 2025, Indonesia will be included in China's 240-hour visa-free transit policy, enabling Indonesian citizens to travel to China without a visa for a stay of up to 10 days. This significant policy change expands the number of countries eligible for this transit arrangement to 55.

This visa-free transit initiative aims to foster greater connectivity and tourism between China and participating countries. With the inclusion of Indonesia, travelers from Southeast Asia will benefit from easier access to one of the world's largest economies.

The updated list of countries benefiting from this 240-hour visa-free transit policy now encompasses various regions. In Europe, 40 countries are represented, including well-known nations such as France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom.

From the Americas, six countries are part of this policy: the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Chile. Oceania is represented by Australia and New Zealand, while seven Asian countries, including South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, the UAE, Qatar, and now Indonesia, are also eligible.

The National Immigration Administration has confirmed this policy, underlining its commitment to facilitate international travel. This policy not only encourages tourism but also strengthens trade relations and cultural exchanges.

As the number of countries under this transit policy continues to grow, travelers can expect to see enhanced travel options and broader international cooperation fostered through such initiatives.
