On January 6, 2026, the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Education of China convened a special study session. This meeting was primarily aimed at laying the groundwork for the upcoming 2025 annual democratic life meeting. Focused on the "Constitution of the Communist Party of China," the session also delved into the important thoughts of General Secretary Xi Jinping regarding Party construction, self-revolution, and style construction. The emphasis was placed on implementing the spirit of Xi Jinping's significant speech delivered at the Central Political Bureau's recent democratic life meeting.
Chaired by Huai Jinpeng, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Minister of Education, the meeting set out to reinforce the ideological foundation necessary for the successful conduct of the 2025 democratic life meeting. In attendance were not only members of the Party Leadership Group but also relevant officials from the Central No. 22 Supervision Group, who participated by providing guidance to ensure alignment with the directives of the Party.
The meeting referenced the democratic life meeting of the Central Political Bureau, which occurred on December 25-26, 2025. This meeting was recognized for setting a standard for serious political life and self-revolution within the Party. It underscored the necessity to deeply study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's speeches while emphasizing the importance of the "Two Establishments" and strengthening the notion of the "Four Consciousnesses" among members.
Participants deliberated on the significance of maintaining a strong commitment to the "Two Upholds" and how this underpins political loyalty and capabilities. They discussed the need for enhanced implementation mechanisms for the major decisions made by the Central Committee. This includes demonstrating political loyalty, executing responsibilities effectively, and achieving tangible results that resonate with the goals set by the Party Central Committee.
Furthermore, the session highlighted the importance of a clear commitment to the ideals and beliefs of communism. Participants recognized the necessity of comprehensively understanding Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. They pledged to utilize the Party's innovative theories to motivate their spirit and ensure that the fundamental task of moral and character cultivation in education was fulfilled.
In addition, the focus was placed on establishing a correct view of political achievements while promoting entrepreneurship and fostering a spirit of responsibility. The implementation of the "14th Five-Year" development plan for education was discussed, with an aim to enhance the integration of education, science, technology, and talent development while improving public education services.
The meeting resolutely addressed the need for stringent anti-corruption measures, emphasizing the maintenance of high standards of discipline and serious adherence to rules. Participants committed to reinforcing discipline education as a means to cultivate a high-pressure environment in the fight against corruption.
An integral part of the discussion surrounded political responsibility concerning Party management and governance. Participants committed to strengthening accountability mechanisms, enhancing assessment processes, and developing incentives that ensure effective Party building, thereby advancing the construction of a robust educational framework.
The session concluded with an emphasis on adhering to the benchmarks set by the Central Political Bureau's democratic life meeting. The importance of engaging in rigorous theoretical study, analysis, and soliciting input from all quarters was underscored to ensure that the preparations for the 2025 democratic life meeting would yield high-quality outcomes.
